On the men’s side, No. 17 Western Michigan dominated Bowling Green 6-2, with Zach Nehring and Liam Valente each scoring twice, pushing Western Michigan to a perfect 3-0 start.
Robert Morris overwhelmed Miami 5-1, as Trent Wilson tallied his first two career goals and added an assist while Tr evor LeDonne added two goals of his own.
RMU surged to a 5-0 lead, forcing Miami’s goalie Bruno Bruveris out of the game halfway through the second period. This marked RMU’s first official game after a 2-1 mark in exhibition action.
On the women’s side, ninth-ranked Colgate cruised past Post with a 6-1 victory, led by Kaia Malachino’s two goals, her fifth and sixth of the season, which tied her for the national lead.
RIT and RPI played to a 3-3 tie, with RPI rallying from two-goal deficits twice, but RIT came away with the shootout victory. Both teams now stand at 4-2-1.
Taking a look at Friday’s action, it’s a pretty full slate, including some monster matchups on the women’s side. Let’s start there.
The top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers face off against No. 3 Minnesota, while No. 2 Ohio State travels to take on No. 11 St. Cloud State, which is off to its best start in program history at 6-0.
In another WCHA clash, St. Thomas visits No. 5 Minnesota-Duluth. No. 6 Cornell hits the road to take on Mercyhurst in non-conference action, and No. 7 St. Lawrence battles Vermont.
No. 8 Connecticut faces off against Providence in Hockey East, while Syracuse travels to No. 10 Quinnipiac.
Dartmouth faces No. 12 Penn State, and No. 13 Northeastern heads to Holy Cross.
No. 14 Princeton visits Robert Morris, and Maine will square off against Boston University.
NEWHA matchups include Assumption at LIU, Sacred Heart at Stonehill, and St. Michael’s at St. Anselm. Franklin Pierce will meet Brown in non-conference action, Lindenwood takes on Bemidji State, RPI visits RIT, and Union heads to New Hampshire.
On the men’s side, No. 19 Northeastern takes on top-ranked Denver, while American International travels to face No. 2 Boston College. In Hockey East, UConn heads to No. 3 Boston University.
No. 5 North Dakota faces No. 20 Minnesota State, and No. 6 Minnesota meets Minnesota-Duluth. No. 7 Quinnipiac goes head-to-head with No. 9 Maine, while No. 13 St. Cloud State visits No. 10 Michigan.
Augustana travels to No. 12 Omaha, and Arizona State faces off against No. 14 Providence.
No. 15 UMass hosts Sacred Heart, Ohio State heads to No. 16 Wisconsin. Alaska takes on No. 18 Notre Dame, while Merrimack visits New Hampshire.
Alaska-Anchorage meets Northern Michigan, and Colgate faces UMass Lowell. Ferris State takes on St. Lawrence, Lindenwood faces Air Force, and LIU plays at Bentley. Mercyhurst visits Union, Niagara faces RPI, and Stonehill heads to Lake Superior State.
In exhibition action, the USNTDP taking on Harvard, while Windsor (Ontario) visits No. 4 Michigan State.
